About Me
Hello. My name is Roslyn and I live in the north-west suburbs of Brisbane where I gain inspiration for my designs by being surrounded by gum trees, native flowers and colourful birds.
Nature never ceases to amaze me how in our dry Australian climate, wildflowers bloom in all their colourful glory and animals and birds possess strong survival instincts despite their harsh environment. We are indeed fortunate in Australia to be the home of such unique flora and fauna and as such I have replicated our country’s beauty in my work.
Art and craft has always been a part of my life and flowers and nature a particular passion. From an early age I was taught to sew, knit, crochet and embroider and over the years have tried my hand at floristry, ceramics, pottery, leatherwork, calligraphy, folk art, sketching, beading, tapestry and longstitch, but it’s cross stitch that has captured my interest for quite some time now because of the fine skill and attention to detail required and possibly the fact that the finished product is more akin to art than craft. For me, cross stitch design has been an enjoyable and natural progression to my skills, so I certainly hope you enjoy stitching these designs and sharing my interest.
I would like to take the opportunity to thank my husband and children for their continued support and assistance in my cross stitch business as well as constructive opinions, ongoing encouragement, patience and faith in my ability. Special mention must be made to my very dear aunt, herself a dedicated country craftswoman, who was not only my friend and mentor, but an inspiration because of her wisdom and kind generosity. Auntie May has left an indelible imprint on my life in so many ways and I am sure she would be very proud of the effect she has had on my creativity … so it is for this reason and with much love that I would like to dedicate this website to her memory.
Happy stitching
